We know you have questions, and we’re here to help. Our Executive Director has the answers you may need to common questions about Alzheimer’s disease and memory care, and when you should consider a move to a secure community such as Duxbury House.

Is Duxbury House a rental or buy-in community?

Duxbury House At The Village is an all inclusive monthly rental memory care community with all private suites.

What is memory care assisted living?

Memory care assisted living offers those with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias a specialized, supportive, secure place to call home with assistance available whenever needed. Our intimate, 12-apartment households provide residents the freedom to enjoy their days as they please within a self-enclosed household.

Is there a cost associated with personal care services offered?

Our all inclusive plan for services includes personal care services, such as Self-Administered Medication Management (SAMM), assistance with showering or getting dressed, or help getting up in the morning or settling down at night time.

What kind of activities do you provide at Duxbury House?

We offer residents a variety of fun and stimulating activities including fitness classes, arts and crafts, dance programs, and brain games. Current events, movies, gardening, cooking, musical and theatrical entertainment are also favorites, as well as offsite trips.

Describe a typical day at Duxbury House.

The only thing ‘typical’ about a day at Duxbury House is that it is filled with encouraging support, compassionate care, personalized activities, and friendly interactions with attention to individual needs.

Residents begin their day with personal care assistance and then a delicious, hot, made-to-order breakfast served in our country kitchen. Then there are activities scheduled in between meals formally and informally throughout the day that are designed to accommodate personal interests and routines.

Our wellness team is continuously providing assistance with medication reminders, escorts to meals and events, or bathing, dressing, and grooming. And at the end of a full day, residents sleep well knowing our caring staff is available around the clock.

My mother is having trouble managing her medications. Can Duxbury House help?

Yes. Our Self-Administered Medication Management (SAMM) program is included in available care services. Medications are owned by the resident and stored in a locked container in their apartment. A Resident Care Assistant provides a reminder when it is time to take the medication and offers assistance if needed.

My loved one needs help with bathing and dressing. Is this something that Duxbury House offers?

Yes. Resident Care Assistants can help with bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living. Our all inclusive plan provides assistance with personal care while continuing to meet our residency criteria.

Is there some payment assistance for memory care assisted living?

Assistance to help with the monthly cost may be available through programs such as the Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefit or Long Term Care Insurance. We can answer additional questions and provide any necessary assistance.

Is Duxbury House managed locally?

Yes. Duxbury House At The Village is affiliated with The Village at Duxbury, Continuing Care Retirement Community all managed by Welch Senior Living. The Welch family has been serving the needs of older adults and their families on the South Shore for over 70 years.
