On Wednesday, March 23, Duxbury House Memory Care Residence held a free virtual webinar and Q&A. The webinar featured Dr. Donald S. Marks, a locally-based neurologist who is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth.
During the webinar, Dr. Marks discussed topics including:
- Diagnosis. Addressing the common tendency to wait too long, or the belief that it is a normal part of the aging process. Signs to watch for, what to do if you’re noticing changes in your loved one, and the importance of involving Neurology in this process
- Treatment. Treating not just memory loss, but also behavioral/psychiatric symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and aggression
- What comes next? Possible clinical trials and more
